*** the number one pisser offer for me has to be the lipsynching, non-writing, moldable puppets that prance around with no talent or anything special. but there's no stopping that when the public wont stop buying into it, and that's only too bad because what you hear on the radio isn't the artist that you see - the one that doesn't mind taking the credit or thanking dear god for having the opportunity to give back to the jolly grand world. it's a team of people who make a lot of money finding the front man to sell to america. and they're damn smart for that. it's not cool when comsumers actually think about it, but it's smart, and that's what you have to be to go far. singer/songwriter/performers are thinning out, and i think it's a shame because what IS an artist anymore? everyone's polished and packaged up in cute little boxes so that you pick them over the others. but that's too general, and we all know this.
*** i found something watching the v.m.a.s this year that i've felt before but couldn't exactly explain. greenday was getting up to accept an award while "american idiot" was being played - and yes the song has been worn out by now - but my first point is - how many people get what they're trying to do? how many people know what they're saying when they sing to that song? i know there are smart ones but there's a lot more of the ones that might say "o - if you're against war - you're against america, i'm for this war! support all the way for our troops - and yea greenday is my favorite band" while subtext in my head says this person is saying "i believe what my old grandaddy says and there aint nuthin changin my mind, them people need to die, die die die - but i can be programmed to sing these tunes and not register or match whats coming out of my mouth" - (keep in mind i DO know that maybe it's just catchy to these people and it's completely harmless and cool for them to love greenday) -but yea i want to ask them what are we fighting for because no one here knows - and neither do most of the soldiers overseas. the president has explained why we are at war many times, but the puppet can't speak in complete sentences without long "dramatic pauses" so no one really knows. but if yer a stickler on standing up for your country no matter what- go ahead do it blindly like you have been doing it. but my first point was that people are so fucking stupid. ... STUPID. ... HOW can you be THAT stupid. close- minded...o another topic - let me get back on track...
*** my second point about the v.m.a.s was that when greenday was going up for their award, they showed clips of snoop and other rappers watching (who had been winning awards on songs about slappin the bitch up the ass or smokin up a bowl) and i thought, " how can these (rappers) not be completely embarrassed at how dumb they look compared to what these kids say in their music? how can they not feel like complete cartoons?" but then again why can't somebody just enjoy a good tune made up for these people to speak words in rhythm i mean if you're dumb enough to consume it's not like they'll stop reproducing- i mean THERES a talent - rapping - o god - what a talent - o yea don't forget him - when you do your thank you's make sure you thank god for letting you tell everyone through songs how much ass you got last night.
***but i guess it's all relative, there's flaws, contradictions, and hypocricy with everything, and there's nothing to do about it but accept it, and focus on your life and your own goals.
